_______
Faria M. Majeed was born in Washington, D.C. and raised in a small town just
outside of Philadelphia, PA. Though she began her life in the northeast, she’s lived in Orlando for over half her life, thus making her all but an official Florida native. The glorious foliage and amazing skies of this tropical area serve as constant sources of inspiration by offering neverending opportunities to observe the wonder and beauty of natural life.
_______ A natural artist since birth, Faria’s propensity for creativity was encouraged
by her parents. Many of her teachers bemoaned the bordering of their assignments with her drawings, and only a rare few appreciated the understanding of line and form
those “doodles” revealed. Still, her need to create and practice form and design was
unstoppable.
_______ Influenced by her culture and family, she learned about bold color choices,
unique style, and appreciation of the beauty in everyday things. Evolving as an artist, she explored many diverse mediums as outlets to satisfy her yearning to create. She studied drawing, painting, ceramics, and jewelry making. Taking clues from her Indian background and the growing Americans’ interest in Eastern cultures, she began
exploring the ancient art form of ‘Mehendi’, or Henna.
_______ Combining her gifts of style and the understanding of line and form and flow,
she had finally found the medium that was to become her niche. Henna body art, the practice of applying a natural dye in the form of intricate line drawings to the skin to create complex patterns (which emulate either jewelry or ornate lace, and leave a temporary tattoo-like stain on the skin) was the perfect culmination of all her previous artistic study. Over the course of many years, Faria became a master in the art form, earning her the title “The Henna Goddess” and the renown of fellow artists and
international clientele.
_______
Achieving mastery in one medium, she was again inspired to explore
other creative outlets and artistic expressions. Being open to surrounding visual influences, she sought to capture (and thus prolong the enjoyment of) the momentary glimpses of boundless beauty she experienced in the life around her. Turning to her digital camera as her artistic tool, she began to experiment with lighting and color to capture
moments and moods and the
everyday wonders of life around her.
_______ Dubbed ”Photopheliac” by her friends, this urban photographer is rarely
seen far from her camera. She revels capturing beautiful images in mundane or unseen place. “My mission in life is to bring beauty to the people, and photography allows me
to capture a moment that might have otherwise gone unseen. I hope that by sharing these still frames I can inspire you to seek beauty everywhere you go in life and to look deeper at things you see everyday to the hidden potential and untapped power
that is missed when beauty lays unappreciated.
_______ Further exploration led her to putting paints to canvas, with dramatic results!
THIS was the combination of her life experience in imagination and creativity, form and flow.. color, and texture…
_______
“I always knew I wanted to paint”, says Faria, “I just never knew how many paintings were inside me.. I have barely begun to explore. Every thing I create just inspires that many more imaginings to be created…”
